Scholarships

The provision of education scholarships is a key aim of the CK Trust and we welcome any support you can give to provide funding to support Kenya children through school. Often clients form a close bond with a Kenyan students during their stay and subsequently elect to subsidise their ongoing school fees. Alternatively you may choose to simply make a donation towards our scholarship fund.

The following will provide you with a broad overview of how the fees are structured and where the money goes.

Schools are grouped into three categories, National, Provincial and District Secondary Schools. The best students are admitted into National Schools. Students who score 400 points and above get admitted to National schools, 350- 400, Provincial schools, and 250-350 to District level schools. School fees structures therefore vary from category to category to category and in some cases from school to school in each category. National schools charge the highest fees, followed by he provincial and then the district level which charges the least. The structures below are average for each categorised. The private schools are not included.

* The School fund is normally high on the first year of admission since it includes other expenses such shopping development, caution money. In the prevailing years the fees is restricted only to school fees as itemised above.

* Schools have been devided into three categories. The National schools are the best in terms of facilities and results and taes the best students nation wide, the provincial schools are second best while district school are the last taking students who just gone over the pass max for high school entrance.

*Pupils have to score in total 500 marks. National Schools will take students who have scored 400 marks and above, provincial schools, 350 and above while district school will admit from 250 marks and above. Because of the high cost of school less than 50% of all pupils taking national exams and passing always do not go to school, about 35% of the remaining 50% will choose district level schools which are low in in cost and in most cases near home.

* Some district schools also admit non boarders, in this case the items Boarding fund and pocket money, will not apply. Transport bus fare will remain, but will be calculated at the cost based on the distance from the school and the charge. If it is a walking distance, this will also not be applicable. Other items such as bedding, utensils will also not be applicable.
